Snake Plant

Lightning:

Snake Plants thrive in indirect light but can tolerate low light conditions. They can also handle some direct sunlight. Place them in a spot with bright, indirect light for optimal growth.

Watering:

Water every 2-8 weeks, depending on the season. In the growing season (spring and summer), water every 2-4 weeks. In fall and winter, reduce watering to every 6-8 weeks. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Avoid overwatering, as Snake Plants are susceptible to root rot.

Soil:

Use a well-draining soil mix, such as a cactus or succulent mix. Ensure the pot has drainage holes to prevent water from sitting at the bottom.

TEMPERATURE:

Snake Plants prefer temperatures between 60-85°F (15-29°C). Keep away from cold drafts and frost, as they are not frost-tolerant.

Fun Fact:

Snake Plants are known for their air-purifying qualities. They can remove toxins such as formaldehyde and benzene from the air. These plants are often called “Mother-in-Law's Tongue” due to their resilience and low maintenance needs.

Sad Plant Signs:

  • Yellow Leaves: Overwatering is the most common cause. Ensure the soil dries out completely before watering again.
  • Brown Tips: This can indicate underwatering or low humidity. Increase watering frequency slightly and avoid placing the plant in a drafty area.
  • Mushy Leaves: This is a sign of root rot from overwatering. Remove affected leaves and allow the soil to dry out before watering again.
